How to download Cygwin to install it offline
Cygwin is a FREE Unix-like environment for Windows. It consists of two main parts including : a DLL (cygwin1.dll) which acts as the Linux API emulation layer which provides a substantial part of the Linux API functionality and a collection of tools which provide a Linux look and feel environment for Windows. If you have internet connectivity then you can directly install cygwin online by the installer provided by their site, but what if you want to install it in a computer without access to the internet. well, here is a solution.
Basically you just need to download all the files from a Cygwin mirror site and save it to a local folder, copy setup.ini, run setup.exe. for this follow the steps given below.
- Download the cygwin setup file from here.
- Run the Setup.exe
- Click "Next".
- Select "Download Without Installing" and then "Next"
- Click "Browse.."
- Select the folder to download offline installer files and then "OK"
- Choose your internet connection method.
- Select the mirror. Click "Next".
- wait for the process to complete.
- Choose the packages nad click "Next"
- Wait for the download to complete. It may take 5-10 Minutes depending your connection speed and selected mirror.
- Click "Finish".
- That's it. Now you can obtain the offline installer files from the folder selected.
